I Have Been to the Panama Canal FIVE Times

I have been to the Panama Canal five times.
I have been to the Amador Causeway six times.
I have been to Casco Viejo seven times.
And I have been to the artisan/ souvenir market eight times.

Why, pray tell, have I been to all of these tourist destinations more than once…visitors, my friend, visitors.

The downside of having so many visitors is that you end up visiting and revisiting Panama City’s few highlights again and again.

However, the benefits of having family and friends come to visit far exceed the price of a few extra tickets to the canal. Living far away from family and friends is hard – living in another country is harder. (Thank goodness for Facebook and iChat.) Being able to see our family – hug them, talk to them, laugh with them – it was wonderful, and greatly needed. We wanted them to see where we live, to picture where we eat lunch and go shopping, to meet Frankie, and to share Panama jokes and stories with.

For all of those who couldn’t make it down, I am sorry that we were not able to accommodate you. Honestly, having guests is a time consuming venture – and with only a few months here to work on the baseball project, time is not on our side. We promise to share photos, videos and stories when we return.

And for those of you who were able to come, thank you. Thank you for spending your time (and money) to come here and bring us a bit of the east coast. It was truly our pleasure to have you.
